Global transport modelling firm PTV Group has continued its expansion in the UK with the appointment of two more specialists.
Michael Oliver has transferred from the company’s German HQ to take up the role of North West Europe Technical Director with responsibility for co-ordinating projects and other technical activities in the region while Laurence Chittock joins as Associate to lead an exciting new project which brings together transport and energy planning in preparation for Electric Mobility.
The company says that continues PTV Group’s “significant growth” in the UK. Having started with one person in 2013, these two appointments takes the British-based team to 35 members in their London and West Midlands offices. PTV adds that the appointments are necessary to cope with a fast-growing workload of new and existing business.
PTV UK Director Devrim Kara explained why the appointments were needed. “The UK is becoming an increasingly important market for PTV,” he said, “We are committed to invest further not only to support our UK clients but also support our clients worldwide.”
Michael Oliver added, “Our industry is entering an exciting time with access to new data and technological advances in hardware, software and the cloud. This with a backdrop of disruption to mobility as a whole. It is important that while we develop and use new tools and techniques that we also remain vigilant. We should see through the hype and ensure that transport modelling and planning plays its part in a transition to a sustainable, fair and prosperous future”
“I am thrilled Laurence is joining our growing technical support team for this exciting region; adding in particular his expertise in the electrification of mobility. Our industry is facing new challenges that requires us to work together and our new team is there to do just that. PTV is more than just a software provider and we are sharing our knowledge, expertise and insights with the wider industry.”
Michael Oliver has been at PTV since 2015 as Solution Director for PTV Visum, with responsibility for international business strategy related to the Visum software package. Previously he was a Senior Transport Modeller at Mott MacDonald.
Laurence Chittock also joins from Mott MacDonald where he was a Senior Transport Modeller and researcher focussing on data analysis, modelling and GIS.
PTV’s modelling products include the widely-used Vissim and Visum software packages which are used by local and national authorities in their transport and city planning. The company has a range of other products such as PTV Optima, which is predicts future traffic flow in real time allowing control rooms to mitigate against congestion before it happens, reducing jams and therefore emissions which improves air quality in city centres.
