Transport solutions company Cubic Transportation Systems has implemented an account-based ticketing (ABT) system trail for Abellio ScotRail.

Cubic states that the ABT will enable smarter travel in Scotland. The One Account solution was deployed on the Glasgow Cathcart loop and has been branded by Abellio ScotRail as ‘Smart Plus’.

The system will allow customers on the Glasgow Cathcart loop route to trail the new pay-as-you-go ticketing system.

Managing Director of EMEA, Cubic Transportation Systems, Laurent Eskenazi said, “Cubic’s One Account delivers an end-to-end multi-modal platform that encompasses the aspirations of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) which can be extended to the UK’ entire public transport network”

“One Account is an account-based approach that allows travelers to have a single funding account across multiple modes of public/private transportation for a seamless mobility payment experience,” continues Eskenazi.

In the UK there has been a growing interest in ABT, says Eskenazi.

Head of Development at ScotRail, Claire Dickie said, “Customers are changing the way they want to do business with us and we see account-based ticketing as one of the potential ways to improve the overall customer experience.”
