A bill to allow speed cameras in construction zones in Virginia could be introduced once the State’s Governor approves it.

Washington DC TV station WJLA reports that the bill, awaiting sign-off by Governor Ralph Northam, is an effort to keep workers safe while preventing fatal accidents in the construction zones.

It says if a driver is going more than 12 miles over the speed limit in a construction zone, a $125 fine can be issued.

There is no timescale for when such speed cameras will be implemented.
