A team of cyclists from Videalert and Imtech Traffic & Infra have so far raised more than £11,000 for Hampshire Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA).
The team, named the Helicopter Heroes, were sponsored to ride from London to Paris in four days, a 230 mile journey that was completed at the end of May.
The Helicopter Heroes are now well over halfway towards meeting their target of £20,000, an amount that they expect to exceed after a planned fundraising charity dinner dance at Winchester Rugby Club in September.
With the aid of a support vehicle that was sponsored by Imtech Traffic & Infra, the team rode from Trafalgar Square to Newhaven via the infamous Ditchling Beacon where they caught the ferry to Dieppe before cycling to Forges-Les-Eaux on day two. The next day proved to be particularly challenging with a gruelling ride through the French countryside from Forges-les-Eaux to Cergy before the final leg to reach Paris on day four.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance receive no government funding and purely survive on charitable donations. It currently costs the charity £125,000 each month to keep the Air Ambulance flying and they couldn’t do it without the constant support they receive from the generosity of the public.
