With only a few days to go before the biggest ITS World Congress ever, taking place in Copenhagen from 17 to 21 September this Talking Transport looks ahead to some of the things going on, some of the main topics of debate and about an ITS success story.  Listen here.

These podcasts are sponsored by Michigan Economic Development Corporation, SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business, SWARCO and Jenoptik.

We look at one of the papers being given on day one of the conference, as Matthew Clarke from Atkins talks about trying to predict future transport trends, looking at what we can be confident will happen and what other areas of change there might be.

The topic is also covered by another guest, Ian Patey who’s ITS Head of Profession at WSP and he discusses a twelve month project from around the world looking at future mobility by working with clients to conclude there is no single direction which the transport industry is going, but a range of solutions.

Our presenter, SMART Highways editor Paul Hutton, talks about why this is such a must-attend event, from the record number of participants, through the VIP guests attending to the city of Copenhagen itself which is a real success story in delivering sustainable mobility.

And talking of success stories, we hear from the Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder who discusses how technology has changed the way people travel in and around the Motor City.
