The CEO of Swarco, Cees De Wijs, has been chosen as the new Chairman of ERTICO, the European ITS Network.
The election took place at the organisation’s annual General Assembly in Brussels, where it also discussed its next strategic steps.
These include the five ERTICO strategic Programmes, covering the different areas of intelligent transport systems such as Connected and Automated Driving, eCall, eMobility, Urban mobility, and Freight & logistics.
“The ERTICO Partnership went from strength to strength through the growth in the number of Partners to the increasing range of activities on offer”, said Jean Mesqui, outgoing Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Partners continued to work together in their quest to further the deployment of ITS, providing innovative solutions to address real needs that exist in our society today, many of which could be seen at the European and World Congresses in 2014 and will be further demonstrated in Bordeaux next October”, he continued.
The importance of strengthening the Partnership through new strategic objectives was reiterated by Mr De Wijs, “ERTICO has gone a long way establishing its Partnership as a reference point in the ITS world. I am extremely grateful to all the Partners for the trust they have shown in electing me; I look forward to working together and to setting forth our ambitions to the ITS community”.
