Kier is set to start work on a £4 million revamp of two of Surrey’s busiest roads.

The firm is working in partnership with Lafarge Tarmac on behalf of Surrey County Council.

The first year of the project, named Horizon, will involve resurfacing all 22km (around 14 miles) of the A22 in Surrey, and a section of the A25 between Oxted and Godstone will be completely rebuilt.

The scheme is part of a much wider plan, which will involve an investment of around £120m across the whole of Surrey to replace 500km (around 310 miles) of the county’s road network.

It is estimated that around 17% of the roads in the county currently require structural repair, and the plan aims to reduce this by 50% in the next five years.
