The organisers of the ITS European Congress in Strasbourg have announced the line-up of speakers at the opening ceremony on Monday 19th June at 4pm.
Led by a local TV and Radio Presenter, Anette Burgdorf, the ceremony will consist of addresses by Cees de Wijs, Chairman Supervisory Board, ERTICO – ITS Europe, Mayor of Strasbourg Roland Ries, President Eurométropole de Strasbourg – Mr Robert Hermann and Violeta Bulc, the European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport.
A keynote speech will be delivered by ASFA who is one of the event’s main partners. The organisers promise that the ceremony will end on a high note with a short awards presentation and some entertainment. The Opening Ceremony will clear the way for the first plenary session, “Mobility across borders”.
Issues surrounding cross-border interoperability and seamless mobility will be addressed, as well as topics like Mobility as a Service. Speakers will discuss strategies for overcoming challenges faced by intermodal transport networks. The session will emphasise the potential of ITS as a cross-border tool, helping actors to develop strategies to go beyond borders and maximise interconnected and intermodal mobility.
High level speakers joining the panel include Maja Bakran Marcich, Deputy Director General, DG MOVE, European Commission, Olivier Biancarelli, Managing Director, Decentralized Solutions for Cities and Territories, Engie, Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General, IRU and Catherine Trautmann, Economic Development Vice-President, President of Strasbourg Autonomous Port.
