Overnight work to improve safety for drivers on the M42 between junctions 1 and 3a is due to start next week.

New solar powered road studs will be installed on the northbound carriageway between junctions 1 and 2 and road markings will be upgraded as part of the project.

Amber reflectors are also being installed on the safety barrier in the central reservation at various locations between the junctions on both the northbound and southbound carriageways.

Work will start on February 13 and will last bout four weeks.

Charlotte Foster, Highways Agency project manager, said:  “The road studs, combined with the amber reflectors on the barrier and the high reflective road markings, will all bring safety benefits by improving clarity of the road layout for drivers.

“The work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum and that is why it is taking place overnight, when traffic flows are lowest.”
