Highways Agency contractor Amey will be replacing the safety barrier on the M54 at Wellington, near Telford during a nine-week job starting on Monday.

The work will be taking place along 3.5km of the east and westbound carriageways between junctions 6 and 7.

Traffic signs will also be replaced and as part of the work, trees and other vegetation along the embankment will need to be removed, but these will be re-planted.

Highways Agency project sponsor Laura Mobley, said: “Safety is our top priority and we are replacing the barrier as it is approaching the end of its useful life.

“While all work is taking place outside of peak hours, we would still advise road users to be aware of the traffic management restrictions and to plan their journeys accordingly.”
