A lorry fire caused a section of the M25 in Essex to be closed yesterday (Thursday 21 August) after causing damage to the road surface.

The incident took place on an anticlockwise section between junctions 27 and 26.

The lorry was carrying waste including paint, tyres and paper and a number of loud explosions were heard.

The road re-opened just after 9am this morning (22 August). There are still delays of about two hours on the anticlockwise carriageway.
