Leading British ITS expert Professor Eric Sampson CBE is joining the Smart Highways Editorial Board to assist with feature ideas and content.

Prof Sampson spent nearly 40 years in the public sector, most of it in Transport in which he was a vocal supporter of technology rising to be Head of the Transport Technology and Standards Division at the Department for Transport.  He is a founder member of the international study group that led to the formation of ERTICO – “ITS-Europe” in 1992 and is still a member of the ERTICO Supervisory Board.

He was featured as the Big Interview in the last issue of Smart Highways.

“I am thrilled that Eric is joining the Editorial Board,” says Paul Hutton, editor of Smart Highways.  “To have a legend like him, with his level of experience and contacts, will help all of us on the Board make Smart Highways an even better magazine.”

Eric adds, “In the last three years or so, Smart Highways has established itself as a must-read publication.  I am delighted to be a part of it and look forward to working with my other Editorial Board members.”

Prof Sampson joins Lee Woodcock of Atkins, Denis Naberezhnykh from TRL, the former ITS (UK) Chairman Sharon Kindleysides and Nabil Abou-Rahme of Mott MacDonald on the Editorial Board.
