Improvement work to start on A5

Resurfacing, footway reconstruction, road markings and studs renewal work on the A5, between the A43 Island and Astcote Junction, Towcester will get underway next month.

The project will be delivered in two phases. The first phase of the work is due to start on Friday 9 December and is due to finish on Monday 19 December.

The footway reconstruction will be delivered during the second phase of the work which will start on Tuesday 20 December and is scheduled for completion by Friday 13th January.

During this phase of the project, there will be two way traffic lights in operation during the works. Roadworks will be suspended over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period.

Debraj De, Highways Agency project manager, said: “This essential work will improve driving conditions for motorists and pedestrians.

“The work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum. We do advise drivers to check conditions and leave extra time for their journeys if necessary.
