The Digital Minister is promising a £25 million competition he’s launching will “cement the UK’s position as a world leader in the development of 5G technology”.

The “5G Testbeds and Trials” competition is part of the Government’s £740m National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) aimed at supporting the next generation of digital infrastructure, including 5G and full fibre broadband.

The technology is also key to connected car innovation.  An explanation about the technology is in the forthcoming Smart Highways issue which is going to press this week.
