A van driver has died after colliding with a road sign in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

David Oliver, from Blidworth, was driving a Ford Transit van when it left the carriageway and collided with the sign last Thursday morning.

The incident happened in Coxmoor Road, between the junction of the A611/Derby Road and Thieves’ Wood, just before 7.30am.

The 45-year-old was taken to King’s Mill Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident and no one else was injured.
