The Department for Transport’s Director of Motoring, Freight and London, John Parkinson, says ITS offers a range of mobility solutions and is hailing his department’s “light touch” regulation.
In a speech at the opening of the ITS European Congress in Glasgow he also discussed the three driverless car trials in England at the moment, and the A2/M2 connected corridor, calling it a “unique test bed”.
He said there is “so much going on” adding, “last month the Queen announced plans for a modern transport bill which will amongst other things enable our insurance framework to facilitate the introduction of automated technologies.”
He also discussed safety, testing opportunities and the investment in the UK city project which is showcasing its work at the Congress.
