Cubic Transportation Systems has demonstrated its proof of concept for a connected in-vehicle information system at the CAV Scotland event alongside Road Expo Scotland in Edinburgh.
The event has brought together global experts in connected and autonomous vehicles with live demonstrations to assess the latest developments and discuss the way forward with future trials and research across the world.
Cubic Transportation Systems President Matt Cole explained, “Our proof of concept will showcase Cubic’s global leadership in information delivery to both travellers and transportation operators through our payment and information systems currently in use around the world.”
The Connected In-Vehicle Information System delivers in-vehicle virtual VMS using standard cellular communications and equipment installed and available in production cars. The use of MirrorLink smartphone integration enables an effective channel of communication into the built-in infotainment units on the car dashboard screen. A series of virtual VMS messages are presented in real time as the vehicle travels.
Matt Cole features in the Talking Transport Podcast from the event which also includes the full keynote address from Michael Matheson, the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity.
