SMART Highways has had a busy week reporting from both the ITS European Congress and ITS America Annual meetings, and you can hear our five SWARCO and Michigan-sponsored podcasts from the events here.

On Monday we concentrated on the public day, Mobifestival, with discussions about the importance of reaching out to the public, plus we heard from the local Mayor and highlights of the opening ceremony.

On Tuesday, we heard about a project in New Zealand that uses accurate GPS data to identify three risks to road safet, met a Chinese company expanding into Europe and heard more about public engagement.

On Wednesday we learned about a new AI solution for driverless vehicles, discussed the ongoing improvements to driverless technology and talked work zone safety.  And SMART Highways editor Paul Hutton had his driving tested in the FIA Challenge.

Thursday’s podcast came from Washington where we learned about a 3D-printed driverless pod, accident prevention and new enforcement solutions plus connected vehicle solutions and ADAS using thermal imaging.

On Friday we talked data warehousing and monetisation, cyber security, a different style of LIDAR and more on road safety.

There’s so much material left over that we’ll have a bonus podcast soon with extra conversation from both events.
