Work to improve the A64 between Claxton and Musley Bank near Malton in North Yorkshire will begin next week.
Road marking, road stud and resurfacing work will take place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, and will take place in two phases.
Highways Agency project manager, Sujad Hussain, said: “This is essential carriageway maintenance work which will improve the road for drivers travelling along this important North Yorkshire route.
“We ask that drivers take extra care when travelling through the roadworks.”
The first phase of work will begin on Monday 13 October and is expected to last for 2 weeks.
Lining and road stud work will take place between Whitwell and Musley Bank, Malton. In addition, sections of worn out carriageway will be resurfaced between Whitwell and Crambeck.
The second phase of work will begin on Monday 3 November and is expected to take 3 weeks, assuming suitable weather conditions. Lining and road stud renewal work will take place between Claxton and Barton Hill.
