The American basketball player LeBron James has appeared in a TV commercial for Intel promoting driverless cars.
The first US-wide TV campaign aimed at getting Americans comfortable with driverless cars shows him squeezing into the back seat of a car — which he has only discovered is driverless when it stops at the curb in front of him.
The New York Times reports that Intel has “staked much of its future on driverless technology, as evidenced by its $15 billion takeover of Mobileye — a leader in driver-assistance systems — in August.”
The report says Intel executive Kathy Winter called the public surprisingly nonchalant about the ability of car drivers to stay in their designated lanes.
