Basemap, a leading digital mapping and transport data solutions provider, has announced a partnership with Trafficmaster.

Trafficmaster, a division of Teletrac Navman, is one of the largest fleet management companies in the UK and USA and this partnership will combine Basemap’s travel time analysis software with the firm’s road speed data to deliver accurate drive times for road speed analysis.

“We are very pleased to form a partnership with Trafficmaster. By combining Basemap’s expertise and Trafficmaster’s detailed GPS sourced data we will be able to offer a detailed national drivetime analysis tool,” said Mark Gallagher, CEO, Basemap.

Trafficmaster data has been optimised for Basemap’s travel time analysis software TRACC. The data is made up of a mixture of vehicles from cars, LGVs, HGVs, and buses. As of 2015, Trafficmaster actively polled over 110,000 vehicles every 1 to 10 seconds giving an accurate dataset. Over 12 billion counts of data are loaded and queried per annum giving an accurate view of the speed of traffic on roads in England and Wales.

By combining Ordnance Survey’s Integrated Transport Network layers (ITN) and Trafficmaster’s speed data, Basemap produce detailed travel times.

“We have selected Basemap as a solution partner because they’re experts in processing large datasets and consuming this in their market leading products,” adds Craig Blount, managing director Trackstar and Traffic Services, Teletrac a Trafficmaster Company. “We hope that by working with Basemap we will allow potential users of our data easier access to the data so that a wider base of customers can benefit from the insights that can be gained from analysis of this information.”
