A new steel bridge has been lifted into place at the B1106 junction as part of the Highways Agency’s £105 million A11 dualling and improvement scheme.
Balfour Beatty installed the bridge between the Fiveways roundabout, Barton Mills and Thetford last week.
The bridge is constructed from two braced pairs of steel beams, each weighing 77 tonnes with a span of 37.5 metres. The concrete deck will be installed shortly.
The bridge forms part of the construction of the new grade-separated junction that will carry the local road (B1106) over the new Elveden Bypass and is one of six structures on this improvement project.
