The current fascination with autonomous vehicles and their future application has led to the introduction of a new industry award, to be presented at the end of October’s World Congress.
ITS Australia has introduced a new category for its 2016 National Awards specifically to recognise Australian organisations researching, testing and developing autonomous vehicles.
The Autonomous Vehicle Award, sponsored by ADVI (The Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative) will be announced at the ITS Australia Awards on 14 October, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
ADVI members, which include ITS Australia, raise awareness of autonomous and driverless vehicles by exploring the impacts and requirements of this new technology in an Australian context and making recommendations on ways to safely and successfully bring self-driving vehicles to Australian roads.
Remember Smart Highways will be posting regular news stories from the World Congress, and editor Paul Hutton is the official podcast provider for the event. The first of the preview podcasts will be available on the World Congress website very soon. These podcasts are possible thanks to the sponsorship of Cubic Transportation Systems, Mott MacDonald, PTV Group, Swarco, Jenoptik, Xerox, MVIS/Bartco and GTT Global Traffic Technologies.
