Eurovia Contracting (North) has completed the construction of a new five-arm roundabout in Rotherham.

The works form part of the A57 Worksop – Sheffield Road improvement scheme works in Rotherham. The improvement works began in September last year and include major realignment and widening of the existing single-carriageway A57 to a dual carriageway. The project is over approximately two kilometres and provides junction improvements, new pedestrian crossing facilities, improved bus stops and the new roundabout.

The £14.7 million scheme, planned for completion in January 2014, was awarded through the Midlands Highways Alliance with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council as the client and Eurovia as the main contractor.

Kevin Graham, Eurovia Contracting North divisional director, said: “This scheme is progressing well. It hasn’t been without its challenges, not least the poor winter weather earlier in the year. As the main contractor and with the roundabout substantially completed, we are now on track to deliver the rest of the scheme on schedule by January next year.”
